Bathurst for Gran Turismo 6
Legendary Mount Panorama track joins the Gran Turismo (virtual) world

"We are very pleased to be able to include Bathurst in our expanded selection of race tracks available in Gran Turismo," says Gran Turismo figurehead Kazunori Yamauchi. "It seems only right that the legendary Mount Panorama circuit is included as fans will now have a chance to drive one of the toughest tracks out there. Described by some as Australia's very own Nurburgring, this is a formidable track that will provide an exciting new challenge for PlayStation gamers."
Going by the list of cars carried over from GT5 you'll be able to pick from any number of R32 Skylines if you with to recreate the GT-R's early 90s dominance at Bathurst before organisers changed the rules to effectively outlaw the car. Famed for its attention to detail, we'll have to see if Kazunori's team has included a booing crowd of XXXX-fuelled Aussies in the game should you end up winning a race with a Skyline as per the notorious Mark Skaife/Jim Richards red flag victory in the 1992 Bathurst 1000. Yes, the one where Richards ended up calling the crowd a "pack of ****holes" from the podium...
If you want to play it safer and avoid the wrath of the famously partisan Bathurst crowd the 2004 Holden Commodore SS and 2000-spec V8 Touring Car Ford Falcon XR8 also appear.
See for yourself when GT6 officially launches on December 6.
See the teaser vid here.
The main attraction to it, for me, is the noise of those filthy V8's.
Wonder how GT6 will sound........
Also I notice that Xbox announced the Bathurst track on Sept 4th. Sony playing catchup a little!

Best to just accept that they either can't do good sounds, or they are lying.

It sounds much better on a surround sound system, and needs to be quite loud etc. and on the right 'home theatre' type setting in the audio options bit, but it's still way off the mark for the visceral excitement of driving fast.
I really must get my pre-order in...

Here's a short video of Turn 10 recording the 787B for Forza 4, it just shows how much time and money is needed to get decent audio for a racing game.

I'd say GT4 was probably still just a slightly refined version of GT2 / GT3 sounds, but GT5 was appreciably better on a decent sound system (shouldn't be necessary I know).
The other thing is a lot of modern cars from the interior are fairly muted and wind noise is a big factor, but it doesn't excuse the fact the engines still sound so poorly synthesised at higher rpm. It's as if they sample every 2,000rpm or so and just blend between them.
There are a few cars (often once they're modified admittedly) that actually sound really quite good, so they're getting better.
My fingers are crossed anyway, graphics are frankly good enough now, let's hope they concentrate on something that matters far more...
