A gift to PH: Admiral/Elephant Bonus Accelerator Chooser
Discussion
I made this around a year ago when I was working out if Elephant's bonus accelerator policy was a 'cheaper' option for my insurance: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6yqqm0p5awiku9b/Accelera...
The excel sheet is pretty straight forward. You only need to edit the 3 orange boxes (cells C2, C3, C4).
In the top one you type in what you've been quoted for your 12 month renewal.
In the middle one you type in the cost of the 10 month 'accelerated bonus' policy (Cell C3).
In the lower cell (C4), you type in what you estimate your premium to be at renewal. The best way is probably to try out a quote with the same details but assuming everything is 1 year older/bigger.
Then you hit the orange 'Calculate' button and watch the magic unfold before your eyes. If you're reluctant to enable macros, all that button is is a simple goal seek to make Cell C8=0 so you can do it manually if you're comfortable with basic Excel.
I can't remember what purpose graph serves (I must have been very bored) so ignore it.
Enjoy.
