I may have made a slight mistake,

Just made a deal on a new mercedes from a Merc main dealer in Portsmouth, or so I thought, turns out I got confused and it's in Plymouth, FML

So this Saturday do I spend 4 hours and £70 on the train and then 4 hours and £60 fuel back home

Or can you get a car transporter cheap nowadays?

Any recommendations?

Thanks

hehe

I can't see that a car transporter will be that cheap, so enjoy the trip. Upgrading to first is only a tenner at the weekend.

As it's a main dealer you might be able to get them to deliver it to a local branch?
Worth asking.

Otherwise - train.

It cost me £280 to get a car trailered from Liverpool to Dorset, seemed like a no-brainer.

The Plymouth dealer is owned by the same co as the exeter dealer. I'm sure they would move it there for you saving you at a 45 min drive. I am surprised you haven't spoken to the dealer for there help. I have always found dealers willing to move cars between there dealerships.

To be fair, since posting this they have got back to me and said that they would be able to move it to their Taunton dealership (closest dealer of the group)

So that's about 3 hours saved, which is handy

Porsche Portsmouth delivered my car up to me in Cheshire and took my trade-in back down there.

Ask them if they could deliver to you.

Got a phone call last night from them, my sales guy pulled some strings and has managed to get it delivered to my house on Sunday.

Result!

Most main dealers will use trade platers so delivery to you should never be a problem. I bought a new van a few years ago from a place just north of London off the A1 and they delivered it to my house in north Leeds next day for £100. I doubt I'd have been able to do it myself for less than that once you factor in your fuel and/or travelling costs to get there.
