Hi I am in a dilemma , over the last few week I have been looking to change my current car (Alfa Mito) for something a little more sporty. This car will be my daily drive , but I stuck on which to go for any advice would be appreciated.

I'd probably not want a VX220 as a daily driver. Mayne fine something which is a compromise between the usefulness of the BMW and the thrills of the VX220, like a Toyota MR2?

I have had a VX220 for the last three months as a daily driver. No issues here, and have recently bought a hardtop and uprated heater to see me through the winter.
Take the plunge, if you don't like it you will get your money back (as long as you don't pay over the odds to start)

Hi Ruth,

You do appear to be having some issue committing to a car. Here are the ones you have considered,

Daihatsu 1.3 coupen cabriolet
Brabus roaster
BMW Z4
Mazda MX-5
VX220
BMW 2.0i SE

Out of those I would take......... none.

Hope this was of use to you

To be honest it only for traveling to and from work, and weekends out and about. I love the look of the vx220 but work about parking it in an already very busy car park? Also I have heard that some suffer from the roof leaking and it will be parked outside must of the time??? Have you had a vx220 . What was your experience with this car? Thanks Ruth

As you drive a SWAT van, none of them would be of interest to you though.

Yeah, I am doing 30 miles a day ish, and it suits my situation down to the ground. Ive had it 3 months now.

It doesn't take long to get used to getting in/out and how low you sit compared to other traffic.

Did your car come with the soft top? If so did it suffer any leaks ?

I used a VX220 as a daily driver and loved it. It's noisy so you can't really hear the radio or phone. Mine didn't leak but I'm told other do. The fuel tank only gives you a range of just over 200 miles and I was doing London Cambridge each day so filling up all the time was a pain.

All vx's will come with a soft top.
I have been using mine as a daily driver for a year now and love it.
However you need to go into it with your eyes open, especially as winter is coming. The heater is rubbish, it won't keep you warm. They do leak but this can be fixed mostly.

Have you driven a vx before? It will be a very different experience to a z4 or a mito.

Hi Ruth,

I owned an NA VX for two years. Used as a daily with no particular issues. Heater can be crap though. Highly recommend....

I do have a soft top. It allows a lot of wind and road noise in. The hard top remedies that, and mine is lined so even quieter.
The updated heater makes all the difference for clearing windows and overall comfort.
