Hi all,

Writing this as my dad needs some help with trying to remove an alternator from a Vauxhall Combo 1.3D van.
He has told me that the two bolts that hold the alternator in place have been removed, but the unit still wont budge. From what he describes it seems that the belt is still holding it all in place.
Try as he might, he cannot find where there my be a self adjusting pulley to loosen then belt.

I've not seen the setup and he lives about 50miles away, so it's not as if i can just pop over to help.
I've looked online and i cannot find anything to show how the alternator can be released (be it videos or diagrams)
Can any one help or point me in the right direction, so that i can pass this on to my old man?

Thanks in advance

Could there be a tensioner somewhere else in the pulley run?

He did have a scout around, but non of the pulleys seem to move (as if they were on a spring).

May not necessarily be sprung. Some adjusters are a threaded bar which pushes a pulley to tension so no spring.

Are you sure that it is not a stretchy belt?
