Hi Guys

Just got back from the Petrolhead Nirvana American Dream Tour 2013 yesterday.

Had an absolutely awesome time, the tour managers were awesome and now I'm saving to go again next year.

I thoroughly recommend to anyone who is thinking whether to go or not in 2014.

My highlight was seeing 9 Corvettes in formation blasting away together at the lights as we came into Las Vegas, hearing the thunderous roar of V8's as the whole world stopped to look. Fantastic moment.

Some of my best pics are here:

I have another 500 or so which I'll place up later when I get a chance... Some lovely panoramic pictures too, of all 10 'Vettes lined up!

It was actually a present for my 21st so I'm not sure of the exact costs.

Prices for this years tour are here:

http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com/driving-tours/the...

Petrol was only 40p a litre, and the Corvette averaged 19mpg for us (across around 2k miles).

Food was $20-$40 per meal, with breakfast included for a lot of the hotels (I think).

Flights are the only killer, which obviously varies on whether you fly economy or 1st class.

I really want to do this tour but money (or lack of) keeps getting in the way, be so glad when my house renovations are finally finished!
Did you do the tour by yourself? Just interested what option you went for, ie/ own car but share a room with a stranger, or share a car with a stranger and unkown driver ability etc.

I did it with my dad, it was a my 21st birthday present. We shared a car, though I couldn't drive as you need to be 25 (did have a sneaky go, though).

There were 2 guys who shared a room/car but didn't know each other, both were great guys who got along fine, though putting faith in a strangers driving is quite a big deal they seemed happy with each others abilities.

Ed,

Great photos mate, it was a pleasure to have you and your Dad along with us this year.
The Govt shutdown was annoying but at least it didn't stop us from doing most of the fun stuff.

Is your hat going to be framed or will you bring it with you next year? wink

Yeah it was a quality week, can't wait for next year and I'll look into doing another tour too if the wallet lets me.

Cheers for a great week!

I think the hat will be framed until next year, I did contemplate using it as a driving hat but I'd look silly in my Japanese FD! smile

I did it last year, I had a car to myself, but shared a room (with one of the tour managers)... Shared a room with others on previous trips and never had any issues, to be honest you don't spend that much time in the hotel anyway.

Costs, there was the tour which covered the car and hotels, if you time it right (I.e. BA winter sale) you can get return flights for well under £500, then it's worth budgeting $100 a day for food, fuel etc...

For what you get, it's a bargain, and is say worth doing..

My video from the tour last year is here: http://youtu.be/QzQ002FAilw
