7 Series tyre size - Help Needed

Morning All,

I'm a bit of a novice so treat me gently!

Need to replace all 4 tyres on my 56 plate 730d. At the moment they all seem to be the same size, 245/50/18W but I keep getting funny looks from people who keep telling me my rear tyres should be bigger/wider than my front ones.
Have I been driving with wrong size tyres for 2 years?

It's possible it's running a wider rear wheel, but without seeing pictures it's impossible to tell (and I think you'd be able to tell by the shape of the sidewall where it meets the rim).

Easiest thing to do is pop into your local tyre fitter and ask.

Mine has 275/40/19 on the rear, is yours a sport?

Edit/// just noticed your on 18's so it may just be the sport spec has the bigger wider rears, my Z3 is the same which is a rare option I think.

The 18 inch wheels in the E65 7 series aren't staggered. You're running the right tyres and those giving you funny looks are indeed wrong.

The 19 and 20 inch tyres are staggered.
