Morning all,

I'm in the very early stages of looking for a new motor. We currently have a Zafira and a MK5 Golf. Next year, I plan to chop both in for one car.

I've considered a Skoda Superb and an Octavia Estate. The Superb has masses of rear leg room for the kids which is good as I'm 6ft3. I'm just not sure about the Octavia. Does anyone know how they compare in relation to the Golf in cabin size??

Cheers.

The Octavia's rear seats are set significantly further back than the Golf's. I'm not sure exactly how far, but I'd guess 2-3 inches?

My Dad has an Octavia and until recently I had a Golf MK5. I dont think there's a huge amount of difference but I've happily travelled in the rear of both on occasions and I'm 6'4"

The recently departed Mk2 Octavia seems pretty similar to the Mk5 Golf to me, most of the extra space seems to be in the massive boot. If you mean the new Mk3 Octavia, I have read they are a bit more spacious.

I've got a Superb estate - huge in the back and boot, highly recommended. New Octavia estate looked to be bigger than the previous generation and with a bigger boot too, if not quite as big as a Superb.

On the mk2 Octavia with the drivers seat all the way back there is about 5 inches between the front of the rear seat and the back of the front seat.
