So Apple's just launched the iPhone in gold - a kind of pale colour, rather than full on JRG.

When they came out with a white iPod, a few years later the market started liking white cars, but only on high-end stuff.

So will the pensioner's favourite now be as fashionable here as it is in the States?

Will this petrol 523i, on at 26k despite being petrol, gold and three years old which gets you into a more powerful, 12-plate 520d M Sport - suddenly look like the height of fashion?

I have a gold S Type, way ahead of the curve!!!

I think it'll be short lived, Apple's losing their way a bit from the original plan and that's happened once before.

I think its slightly different, white signifies something quite different to a gold colour.

Apple used the white colour to (at the time) give the impression of a clean, technically advanced product that was produced at the very highest standard and it worked. Somehow Apple have crafted this image of being elite to everything else so it was only a matter of time before that trend leaked into other sectors.

I don't think Gold will have anywhere near the same effect.

Hope so, then my 10 year old car will become hip and cool, hopefully I'll follow suit.

Soory, but when I think of gold all I can think of is my old Vauxhall Victor.

Luxor on the new FF Range Rover is a lovely shade, but best appreciated in the Californian sun.

JLR a putting out a lot of metallic red RRSs and F Types.. so I think 'deep reds' may make a come back too

Soon to be shade of matt pink, or have paint manufacturers worked out how to make 'fade-free' paint?

From looking at the cars where I live, brown was the colour of choice for 2010-2011

Saw a "nice" 13 plate BMW Estate the other day in this colour - looked disgusting if I'm honest.

About 100 years ago I was trundling around in a 4 year old Sierra 2.3 Ghia in Champagne Gold. I didn't know I was so ahead of fashion. I've just done a quick DVLA search on it and unfortunately LPO 314Y hasn't had a tax disc since 1995, so it seems its last owner didn't know it was about to become a sought after colour once again either.
