The damage mice can do to a car...
Discussion
My mate had his VW sirocco in storage for a few years. When he went to look at it one day, he was gutted, mice had got in the car and chewed EVERYTHING. The leather on the seats, the wiring in parts, the carpets, the seat foam... even the leather on the steering wheel.
Doors and windows were closed, save for a tiny gap at the top of the front windows to let the air circulate, hell knows how they got into the car? He ended up scrapped it.
one of my cars tends to spend a bit of time in the garage and although I don't have a mouse problem at the moment, I would be gutted if that happened to my car... So I have set a few traps on the floor and keep an eye on them to see if there is any sign of mice in the garage. I do go in there regularly but I have to keep changing the bait on the traps...
Anyone suggest a bait I could use that will last more than a week?

On the hillside opposite the Aston Martin factory at Gaydon, is a chromed DB9. It is just a shell. It used to be a car.
The car was shipped to India for the opening of a dealership and got stuck in a crate on the quayside (thanks to Indian bureaucracy) when it was supposed to be returned to base. When it was finally released, the crate was opened, only to reveal that several generations of rats had lived, eaten, reproduced and died in the car. The car was beyond rescue, so they stripped out the shell, steam-cleaned it, blacked the windows and chromed it (odd decision there) and stuck it as an ornament on the hillside.

If a mouse can get into a car... how do you make the garage mouse proof?
Easy for mice to get into cars... but I made the garage with zero possible entry points - think container that sits on a container lorry. The door goes flush onto a 2" tall retainer. So assuming the buggers don't get in whilst I'm moving the car, they ain't getting in.Had three lots of mice infestation in 2 years... new garage, none in 7 years.
They still get into the house mind!
Got electric power in the garage ? Get a ultrasonic repeller

Bournville chocolate was recommended by a farmer once as being the best lure.

My Polish flatmate was insistent that chocolate was the correct bait to catch the mouse that had invaded our 3rd floor tenement. Not believing the silly foreign bint, I bought four traps and loaded them up with bread, cheese, chocolate and donner meat.
Chocolate won, mouse lost.
Damn things will try to eat anything. Years back my boring company diesel was stuttering badly. The mechanic who fixed it showed me the neoprene hand pump bulb on the diesel feed line - it had teeth marks in it and had been letting air into the system. He told me that it happened quite often and then got out a cardboard box of various things that had been replaced on cars because of rodent damage, mostly gnawed wiring.
So bait the traps with diesel soaked neoprene or short lengths of wire with gaily coloured insulation.......
