Yet another What Car
Discussion
Had a breakdown this morning, resulted in some conversations with the parents and the end result is they don't want me to be driving the Laguna any more, I've been saving, can realistically afford around the 15K mark on a new car.
I do high mileage (Circa 20K a year) so want the car to be comfortable, a lot of this is long distance, but still a descent amount on B roads. I've got used to the nice quiet ride of the Laguna, but it does have no feedback for enjoyable driving.
Fairly descent on fuel (40mpg+)
I spend a lot of time up North so good in bad weather is a bonus,
Only needs to carry 2 and some luggage (tents/couple computers), but no complaints about 4 seats - I still have the Tuscan & Smart Roadster.
Bluetooth would be a real advantage - especially one that does A2DP but not crucial
Less than 2 years old/10K miles on the clock for work.
I'm currently looking at the Nissan Juke Nismo (fails a bit on mpg and possible comfort). I've always fancied a Defender but old and leggy at this price band, GT86 costing more than I would like.
Would consider a lease, PCP if it worked out for the better, but I'm more inclined to purchase a car outright.

Any particular reason for wanting a new car? Driving ~20k mi p.a. will lead to serious depreciation.
A range of reasons, part of it is work, another part my parents want me to get something new (despite the fact I will be buying it myself) for the reliability. I tried to prove with the Laguna that as long as a car is looked after well it will survive over 100K miles, and despite a pretty perfect service history getting stuck in the middle of nowhere today was not a fun experience. How about this: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013....
There's no escaping all the good reviews, owners and 'experts', for the Focus.
Yes, I have too much spare time.

There is a Ford garage 3/4 miles away, the focus has been a thought, think I nee to take one out for a drive see what they are like, would like to try the 1.0 ecoboost too, in 125, does the diesel get a good name too? There's no escaping all the good reviews, owners and 'experts', for the Focus.

The 1.6 diesel is a good unit that provides adequate performance for it's size and returns good mileage, but if you were willing to sacrifice a little on the MPG side of things I'd eer towards the 1.0 with 125bhp if I were you - cracking little engine, really could not believe it when I drove one.
