Why is it that Mitsubishi, allowed someone to take a perfectly acceptable Galant, and wreck it.

I ask because my hire car for 7 days in Dayton, Ohio..... (The most boring place you could EVER visit, when the US Government has closed all the museums and the Wright Patterson National Airforce Museum is locked)......was a 2012 Galant.

What a st box. The steering and suspension settings were so sensitive and wallowy, that I was nervous at 60 mph on a flat straight freeway. The auto kickdown was set so that any slight push on the accelerator caused it to drop a gear with little encouragement, and with a slightly bigger push it would drop 2 gears, and rev it's tits off. Handling and tyres conspired to squeal on moderate turns where the door handles would be scrapping on the floor.

And the passenger door mirror. Who the fuch designed that? Yes there is a warning that objects may be closer than they appear, but fuch me, it's ridiculous. I may as well have been looking through the wrong end of a telescope.

I realise that there is a 'committee' of the target audience who help decide these things, but why not let them try a Eurospec car, and see what they are missing.

Not defending it but the Galant is an old design that we never got, though it is related to the Dodge Avenger that we did. Americans think it's st, nobody bought them except rental fleets and there can't be many 2012s left as it's now out of production. No one needs to try a Euro car to compare it - there are plenty of much better cars in America too.

That explains it, then.

I didn't get to drive it :

but my niece's Husband has a 2010 Accord, and the interior made me want to throw, and my wife felt travel sick after 3 miles in the back seat.

The last Galant was so terrible, not even Americans bought it.

How badly did it flop? Well, despite being out of production for more than a year now, Mitsubishi's US website still lists brand new 2012 model year Galants for sale!

http://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMNA/jsp/galant/12/s...

BTW, most manufacturers have already rolled out their 2014 models, so these Galants are effectively two years old now.
