Hi! Help! Need advise on Passat immobilisers and electrical
Discussion
I'm new to owning VW Passat's and need some advise. Basically i purchased a 2003 (53 reg) 1.9lt TDI 130bhp Passat Saloon last week.
On it's maiden voyage I reached my destination (Liverpool, UK) & the engine immobiliser kicked in when I tried to turn the engine over. It is probably important to note that it had worked at least 20 times before this. After much hassle, breakdown & recovery services ect. I was told on Monday that the key I had been given was not a true VW key (even with the VW badge on it, it wasn't a remote key, so I had to unlock the door manually). Again with much hassle I have managed to order a key from VW, who will HOPEFULLY have it with me in the next 5 working days.
My concern is that there is more to this problem than just they key, like say the electrics? Also the garage that sold it to me are claiming no responsibility (surprising eh?). Could they have known there was a problem with the electrics and that it was a ticking time bomb?
When I checked the receipt there is footnotes from the seller saying *sold as non-runner*, which is obviously very concerning. My stupid fault for not checking over everything. I was definitely NOT sold as a non runner.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
