Historics at Brooklands November auction
British roadsters, muscle cars, some pre-war tourers... and the Sultan of Brunei's Mercedes Sprinter

However, that does give us an excuse to search out some PH-worthy presents, starting from right now. The Historics at Brooklands team have a sale on next month, and its auction list resembles a Toys 'R' Us catalogue for adults.
Of course, it's hardly chock-full of ten quid stocking fillers, but there are some potential bargains, relatively speaking. Favourite of ours amongst those is this AMG Business Lounge Concept Vehicle. Ostensibly a Mercedes Sprinter, it's one of three built for the Sultan of Brunei in 2004 at a cost of over £300K.
The purpose? 'To watch camel racing in air-conditioned luxury'. So the entire interior is trimmed in Connolly leather, there's a fridge, a pair of 29-inch HD monitors and a Mac to keep occupants entertained.
And if the black with tan looks a little subtle for the Sultan, that's because it's been repainted from its original yellow with red leather combo. Mmm... The estimate is £45,000-£50,000.
For more modest budgets, this 1989 Mercedes 500SEL has no reserve and a guide price tantalisingly close to Shed's threshold. This recently imported Alfa Giulietta Spider is an achingly pretty thing too. See as well the obligatory old 911.
The Brooklands Auction take place on the 30th November and the full consignment of cars can be viewed here (with further additions to come!).
as is the Arrows F1 car! http://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2013-11...
Every so often it came down in price but was still a lot for a modern A team van.
I wonder if it ever sold in the meantime or if its been sat at the back of their yard for so long and theyre having a clearout.

Coming to a race paddock near you soon? Would make a great tow vehicle.
Now it's up for auction again, and they're describing the reserve as 'keen'.
It looks like it's in excellent condition, so I'm wondering if there is some reason why there isn't more of a premium on it because of its history?
Is it one of the 'unlucky' cars like James Dean's Porsche or the Sunbeam Alpine who's competition drivers all died in nasty racing accidents? Or is there some other reason the market hasn't attached a higher value to it?

yep
Bentley Imperial (one off convertible built on a Continental platform)
Bentley Val d'Isere by Robert Jankel. Several of these were conversions were done by Jankel at Brooklands (where he had also been responsible for various Panther-badged creations), including some in rather more tasteful paint schemes (though the one that's salmon pink inside and out is an acquired taste). This had some form of hydraulic AWD which disengaged above 30mph.
Bentley Dominator. A P38 Range Rover chassis with bespoke body and I believe the Bentley 6.75 litre V8. Several of these were made.
Bentley B3, a Pininfarina body on a Continental platform, running a 6.75 turbo V8. It seems several of these were made.
On the other hand, Prince Jefri also had seven of these gorgeous beasts built: one remains in the wild, as Jefri withdrew his order for it... is this it? What I'd do to have one... there's one in the yellow/red livery, one dark green, one gunmetal grey and this one... don't know about the other three... there are also a few three-box, four-door saloon examples around, very pretty they are too.

Would be a useful tow vehicle, then!
