If I know how deep it is then through with a huge, childish splash, if not around, because who knows what lurks in the murky water?

The last time I braved it my little fiat was playing disco with the dash lights and running on 3 cylinders for 20 minutes after!

Having worked in the recovery business, round if possible. The amount of breakdowns I've attended where people have drenched their electrics...

Or through at a sensible pace!

Having bent an alloy going through a deep puddle that was hiding a massive hole, I go around whenever possible now.

I've bombed through some good uns in my time, but only on roads I'm very familiar with, where I know exactly how deep it is. Still, you can never account for the unknown! I work with a girl whose husband wrote her first car off when enthusiastically driving through a puddle that turned out to be a lot deeper than it first appeared in Yorkshire. I think once you are sitting in an old Fiesta, up to your waist in water, you know it's bad, and as expected, the valves were as bent as a 3 bob note.

If you know how deep it is (basically if I can see the top of the kerb) and you know the condition of the road underneath, through (obviously; it's cool!) but if there's any doubt at all I'll either go around it, or try and find a different way if the road is blocked.

If you did that to me, I'd find your car, put in every window, key every panel, smash every light and then empty a big tin of Dulux through the window.

Purely FYI smile

Through it. Especially if it's a hire car with excess reduced to near zero.

When I was 17 I was driving my 205 round a roundabout that was suffering from some crazy flooding

On seeing the flood water, I naturally went round again to go through the deep part

Sadly it was full of sewerage, it was discusting

Since that day, always around (unless I'm in my little jimmy and im greelaningsmile )

Through - until the first time I forcibly removed an exhaust from a van - it was more of a trench than a puddle...

Strictly round now. hehe

that depends...

In the jeep or land rover than yes straight through (although have lost power steering several times due to waterlogged belts)

In a car, no chance... air box is too low
