I would hate to have bought one of these at 'retail' price as Drive the Deal are currently offering a 5-door Visia Flex model for under £10k after the £5000 electric vehicle grant.

Still live based on a dummy quote from their website:

"Drive The Deal Discounted Price: £14879.10

Please note that you will get a £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant provided by the Government in addition to the discount shown."

At this price point, it makes a lot more sense as a second car and it cant depreciate like a brick in a swimming pool can it?

Which way do you think fuel prices will go when the government try to recoup all the lost revenue through lower co2 based VED duty and the (potentially) greater uptake of electric vehicles?

are you sure that 14k isn't after the 5k grant is removed?

just checked, and i'm pretty sure this is it. On nissan's site that car cost is 15,990 AFTER the 5000 has been taken off, unless they have been able to initiate a 1/3 off deal?!?

Well, according to the DtD site, the 14k shown is before the government discount on top so that is the price after it is 'removed' (although you cant remove it so why would you want to).

got a similar quote here..

wonder if I can get a charger installed at worksmile

at 65 miles a day it'd save me £300 a month in Petrol, and could be charged at work, so no cost to me.

You will have to rent the battery, also there is no way that that price is before the grant is removed.

Yep it's about 10k after the 5k gov subsidy..but it says this:

"Please note that our prices include a discount which is only available for current owners of low emissions vehicles including any Nissan Leaf, Toyota Prius or any vehicle less than 99g/CO2/km wishing to purchase the new Nissan Leaf. If this does not apply to you, then please telephone us on 01628 472276 or 08456 262626 to obtain the quote. "

Just to clarify, from the mailing list email:

The email said:
Deal of the week

Frankly, we couldn't believe our eyes when we saw this deal for the Nissan Leaf. Drive the Deal is currently offering a 5-door Visia Flex model for £10,831 - which is a massive saving on the £20,989 list price and also includes the Government's £5000 electric vehicle grant. If you can prove you own a previous-generation Nissan Leaf or Toyota Prius, however, things get even better, as you get an extra discount, which means you end up with a final price of just £9879.10.
So, the DtD price quoted from the dummy quote I ran through is (in theory) before you prove that you already own a hybrid/electric vehicle and want to trade it in.

Surely they ought to be offering this to people who drive hugely inefficient cars? Replacing a V8 Range Rover with a Leaf is a bigger reduction in CO2 than replacing, say, a Prius...
