A bit of an erroneous title, but I've just been pondering.

I need to hire a car for the day this week whilst my car is off the road so hit the enterprise site for some prices.

Now, a KA type car is £22 for the day and an astra/ focus type is £49

However, an astravan is only £22. So, I'm thinking of booking the van, after all it can't be less Refed than a KA can it? Assuming they don't stock many vans, maybe they can swap me out for a bigger car or maybe I can do some man and van jobs for the day!

Any other ways to play the hire car companies and get more than you paid for?

Book an automatic. Almost no-one hires a small automatic so they generally give you an op-up to the next class where they are more common.

Also if it is an A to B rental rather than an A to A, ask if there is anything out of position that needs to be returned to B.

If it's a to b you'll get something rubbish or a car with something wrong with it.

Book an automatic but you might get stuck with a 1.2 corsa auto or just pay to upgrade?

Go to Atlanta Airport, ask for a Mustang GT and get told there are none, say ok then, anything, a Focus it is then, then someone talks to the girl and she announces they do have a Mustang but she is afraid it is "Stick", she just thought she would mention it but nobody ever wants it, if I want it I can rent it for the same as the Focus biggrin ahh go on then, apart from hoofing it down the ramp and trying to change gear with my left hand....it was great.

You would have found it much easier if you used your right hand rather than reaching across yourself like that wink
