VW Up. Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii
Discussion
I am currently looking to replace our Toyota Yaris, which is now showing its age, with one of the above.
I like the idea of fixed price motoring and buying one of the above on PCP i would also benefit from free servicing for 3 years (Citigo offer) along with the added reliability of running a new car.
I currently drive 7 miles to work through stop start traffic and one day a week i do a 100 mile round trip to Bradford (i have access to the wife's diesel for this journey). I also use the car to visit clients but for these journeys i receive 40p per mile.
Does anybody run one of the above cars day to day? If so how are you finding it?
I visited a Skoda dealership yesterday and had a sit in one and was quite surprised at the amount of room inside. Unfortunately i didn't have time to test drive, though i will be dropping by again this week to do so.

I run a Citigo in the way you describe. It isn't worth considering the Mii or Up IMHO as it bests them for value.
My journey is almost identical, 8 miles to/from work, 180 mile roundtrip to see the folks a few times per month. It is surprisingly quiet and comfy on the motorway, will happily cruise at 80. I return 55 mpg pump to pump. Nothing has gone wrong at all and it's pretty fun due to its lack of weight. Not very quick but you get to use all the revs! Enjoy the test drive.

We got an up last year on a pcp to replace my partners battered old Corsa. I've had to use it this year as I've been in and out of cars and it's a great little car. More economical than it has any right to be, 3 year service plan, tax is £20 a year. Stuck leather interior on ours and it's quite a pleasant place to be on a motorway. Done just over 16k in it so far.
Skoda were offering 0% on Citigo's last month. If you opted for the middle spec car with no extras it came out at £107 per month with 3 years free servicing.
Lady B.J.W test drove one at it came a close second to the Fiat 500. Although it rode better than the 500, she couldn't get into a position that was comfy, and where she could see the speedo properly. The salesman commented during the test drive that a fair few people had commented on this. A bit of a design flaw if you are around 5ft 2. She also preferred the look of the 500. The Skoda is no frills personified, but far better value than the UP.

The Upmigo sells on style, showroom appeal, brochure appeal, economy figures and finance plans.
All of which fades into insignificance when you start the engine. omg, The driveline feels ancient.
Personally I would look elsewhere (Fiesta? Yaris), sorry to disagree with other posters above who actually like the tin cans with a missing cylinder.

The reviews, both professional and from real owners, seem overwhelmingly positive. If fact, wasn't the Up! WhatCar's COTY?All of which fades into insignificance when you start the engine. omg, The driveline feels ancient.

Ancient? Its a new 3cylinder mpi engine! One of the new breed of low mpg & low tax efforts. I think it drives very well, in fact one of ours is replacing a fiesta which has been truly awful. We also tried the yaris & aygo and preferred the citigo to them all. My mum has just got the same deal on a VW Move Up she's collecting on Thursday. Talk to the dealers and haggle and you'll get much the same deal on any of the cars regardless of the book price. They have to compete when they're selling pretty much identical products. It boils down to which dealer is nearest to your house and which salesman is the most accommodating. OP have a look at the Citigo Sport if you want a bit more spec. We've got 2 coming. Look great and have a decent spec compared to some of the lower models.
We also looked at the 500, compare a 500 to a mid spec citigo and the fiat wins on looks & appeal. The sport citigo is a closer match imho.
I've really shopped about and nobody could get anywhere near the Skoda deals. The 500, aygo, Ka, were all around £20pm more without any service plan included. I'm sure they were all higher tax & mpg as well.

Bought a Mii six months ago and have just clocked up 7500 miles. It still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
As you'd expect its great in the city. Compact and nippy, and quick enough away from the lights.
I continue to surprised at how solid it feels on the motorway, you really wouldn't think you're in a 1 litre city car. I've taken it to Plymouth (from London) a couple of times and it copes well whether I take the motorway or A roads. Certainly doesn't feel out of its depth as long as you plan any overtakes carefully...
As you mentioned there's plenty of room in it, even in the back, and the boot is a decent size. When I see others on the road they look ridiculously small but that's certainly not how it feels from inside.
There are a couple of minor niggles, but nothing serious - there is no light in the boot, no memory on the front seats (3 door), and no control for the pax window on the driver's armrest. And that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
A couple of options worth considering are the sat nav/media player which clips into the dash and works very well, and the emergency braking (which I still haven't tested out yet!) £50 for a full size spare wheel is a bit of a no brainer as well...
In short I am delighted with the car and would highly recommend it.

I looked at the Citigo when buying a new small car I thought it was poor value for price v's spec all of a sudden it was over £10k for something half decent and 60hp engine was gutless, I bought a Suzuki Swift 1.2 much cheaper, better spec and 94hp engine is very good its returning a real world 45 - 50 mpg with £30 tax...it's worth taking one for a test drive you'll be surprised.
There are so many deals out there on PCP. These cars are not particularly great value and I'm afraid their showroom appeal passed me by (the Citigo Sport came closest).
Pandas and Puntos are very cheap at the moment.
Niece and nephew went Pug 107 and Renault Clio respectively, both with free insuarance.

I have to say £100 quid odd a month is cheap!!! At that price its no wonder nobody is "buying" cars anymore.
My Lupo 3L 1.2 Tdi which is a decade older & essentially the same thing a Migo'up up is based on (loosely) its great on the motorway, super quiet for what it is in all situations except around town where its a bit noisier.
Though mine does 80-110 mpg on a daily basis

Sorry but that's a load of rubbish, it's £10,100 in top spec with the 75 bhp tax free engine, bluetooth, sat nav, alloys, heated mirrors, heated seats, etc. The base spec Swift doesn't even come with air con, you'd have to pay over 12k to get something similar.
