Urgent-husband just broke down in 964 near Calais
Discussion
Can anyone help. My husband took his 964 to the Ring and Spa for a track weekend and has just broken down in France before Calais en route home. Has def missed his return train. Before the car stopped/broke down, the ABS warning light came on. Any clue what is the problem? He's just walked 800m in the dark to an SOS phone, and the police have just stopped to make sure the mechanic's coming. His French is appalling. They've just driven off, bizarrely. Thanks. Hard not to be worried with him alone in the dark on a fast French road...
Probably need to give a little more info on the symptoms in order for ppl to come on and help if honest
Has he tried disconnecting battery and leaving it for 10 mins or so before reconnecting it ???
May help clear any ecu faults but not up to speed on that particular car at all sorry

Erm, yes! He called the provider who said he needs to use the SOS phone to get removed from the road. He wonders if the alternator is broken.
If he has Porsche Assist, RAC or AA backed cover, call the toll free number in the UK. They will do the translation stuff, the relay and recover him and the 964 safely!HTH?
Our friends car broke down while we here with them in Boulogne, the car was recovered, we were booked to come back on the train but were told that we had to go on the ferry as Eurostar was unable to take cars that couldn't be driven on under their own steam.
Got very chiselled by the ferry co for a last minute one way ticket back to Dover.

Um, yes, I'm hoping this is the first and last time I'm on here! I've had to ask on Facebook what OH means, asking if it was OLD HAG. A friend in Berlin kindly pointed out that it is the more innocuous 'other half', LOL! The tow truck arrived, took the car somewhere safe to inspect it and the mechanic thinks the alternator's broken. It can't be fixed now! He's calling the UK insurance company and thinks he'll probably get a UK recovery company to collect it 'and he gets home somehow'. My husband is bright and competent (erm, apart from the whole ridiculously ill-conceived *fun* weekend Eurohooning) but I've NO CLUE how he's conducted a conversation with a French mechanic. His GCSE French is dusty at best!

French is not difficult to master. If he'd have stuck with the old faithful of pourriez s'il vous plaît prendre me temps orgasme et encore une fois avec un aimant de réfrigérateur, the mechanic would have sorted him out straight away
Quite..."could please take the orgasm time and again with a refrigerator magnet"
