Since, let's face it, most cars look better without a front number plate, does anyone here think they should be optional, or at least allowed to be different styles to fit the car they're attached to? Maybe your average Joe may not care, but for some people the look of their car matters.

Oh, and I know about all the issues regarding making it difficult to identify cars, etc, but could there be a workaround?

Discuss, and it's my first post, so be nice wink

Motorbikes don't, so I think either bikes should be made to have them, or cars not to.

Am I the only one who gets pissed off being instructed to "discuss"?

I don't want to discuss.

Don't really care.

Maybe those who don't want a front plate should have to put one on each side of the car. biggrin

Always sounds like a GCSE exam question.

Only on cars that are not designed to have one, anything by a mainstream manufacturer for the UK market should have one.

Alfa Romeo is pretty mainstream.

Lol exactly.

It's a very arrogant and presumptuous thing to post.

They need photos of the driver as well as the plate for the congestion charge and whatnot. How would you cope with that?

Yep. Bikes don't run front plates. I can't see a difference.

Do Supercars still have front plates confused The majority of the Ferrari/Lambo/McLaren, that are all owned by the young Arabs in & around Surrey already seem to be devoid of the front plates (and sometimes rears) so I thought they'd already been phased out confusedhehe I'll -----> getmecoat

They don't have to pay the congestion charge either, so that doesn't solve my query.

So what logic is behind that quote then?

At least make the plates better designed for the car. Car companies design their cars well enough (most of the time); why not choose a specific design of plate too? Seems to make sense, I guess

They have a choice, design so there is space for a number plate or accept they will lose some sales because fitting one spoils the look of the car.

The other option is to remove the requirement for all vehicles, that would be fine by me, but not an answer to the question.

1 rule for one, 1 rule for another? I'm not overly fussed but it doesn't really make sense to me.

The logic is, if one should, why not the other. Makes a pretty good point.

I do know there was a young lad in the West Midlands I think, rolling around in a Lambo Aventador without front plates. The police have pulled him a few times but I guess he has the money to not really care that much.
