So I'm running Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my car.
I've done just over 1000 miles on them.

This morning on my way into work, I picked up a screw in the front passenger side tyre.
The screw was about an inch long and only half of it was in the tyre. It's also worth noting that the screw was in one of the tread blocks, not one of the grooves.

I've taken the screw out and I'll be keeping an eye on the tyre to see if it has a slow puncture...

I think I've got away with it but part of me wants to replace the tyre anyway just to be on the safe side.
I'm doing a couple of long haul journeys in the car in the coming weeks and the last thing I want is to have a blow out.

What would you do?

Cheers

I would get it repaired - you won't have a safety issue at all.

I wouldn't worry. If it starts to lose air get it plugged.

Take it to a (competent) tyre place and ask them to check it?

I'm pretty sure it's fine but I may take it to a garage and get it checked.
At least I'm at the right place to get it repaired if it needs to be...

Thanks for your help!

I've had about 4 years repaired in as many years following a similar pricking (ooo errrr). As long as the tire is in good condition in the first place, a plug repair is completely safe.

Gonna have a garage look at the tyre this evening after work. Worse case scenario is it'll need repairing.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Even if the screw hadn't fully penetrated the tyre, it could easily damage the belts.

A repair will clean the damaged area out and and replace it with a nice mushroom patch. Good as new and no niggling thoughts in the back of your mind.
