I'm pretty sure they actually operate something similar to this in Cuba!

If you are driving a car with certain colour number plates (state owned car I think), you can be pulled over at a special "bus stop" & asked where you are going. If you say "Havana", the bus stop man (seem to remember them being yellow) says "Ok, these 2 people are going to Havana" and in they jump. Not sure if it's free or if they pay a small amount, I didn't get that far into how it worked.

Personally, I couldn't think of anything worse. I agreed to give a lad a lift into work for a couple of weeks some years ago. Drove me fking mad to be honest - "can you shut the window" - "do you have to smoke" - "you just undertook him" - "can we listen to something else" etc etc.

I'm sure I actually considered deliberately crashing the car as an excuse not to give him a lift, but decided to just book the rest of the 2 weeks off. He never spoke to me again
