RM Auctions Paris 2014 sale
Auction scheduled for Retromobile week features some very excting (and very expensive) racers

All the cars come from Peter Harburg's collection. RM describes the lots as representing 'some of the most desirable and iconic racing cars ever made', and we certainly wouldn't contest that.
The 956 'Group C Sports-Prototype' was built on June 14 1982. Chassis 004 finished third at Le Mans that year with a Porsche lock-out of the podium.
Continuing as a works car for a further two seasons, it notably finished second in the 1984 Spa 1,000km. The drivers? An S Bellof and D Bell... RM Auctions have placed an estimate on the 956 'in excess of 2.2m euros'.
But should those sort of funds be available, how about an even more powerful Porsche racer? The 1,100hp 917/30 was built specifically to win the 1973 Can-Am series, which Mark Donohue achieved with more than double the points tally of his nearest rival. Six 917/30s were built for 1973 with three completed for racing. RM is selling chassis number 005, one of the cars that didn't race in period.
If seeing the 904 Carrera GTS doesn't make you want one, watch RM's video of the car it sold at its recent London auction. Any better? The estimate for this ex-Dickie Stoop car is 1.1m euros.
Aside from the Porsches, Harburg's cars also include a 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza Spider (in excess of 1.8m euros), a Jaguar D-Type (in excess of 4.1m euros) and a 1969 Lola T70 (a snip at 295,000-350,000 euros).

Anything less than 5m Euros must be a bargain for this car!

If I were in the position to choose, it'd have to be the Monza (a guy near me called "the Admiral" has a gorgeous, French Blue 500 Mondial, which is basically the same as the Monza), the 917/30 (because Can-Am racers were the most bonkers race cars ever, and the Lola (simply because I like those cars). As it is, I can't even afford the plane ticket to Paris.
