Why do people fit stupidly loud exhausts and then complain about being pulled or banned from track days?

I am not against modifying for a nicer sound or improved breathing, but noise for the sake of it?

You just have to look at the power output of modern cars to see that louder does not necessarily mean more powerful : in fact we did some testing many years ago that showed that most aftermarket Ducati exhausts resulted in a power drop!

Ditto decats - look at the GM LS series engines for an example of what can be achieved while meeting California's pretty strict emissions regs.
So why decat, making your car illegal and worrying about MOT's instead of fitting high-flow cats?

Expense. High-flow cats can be extremely pricey, and aren't guaranteed to get you through an MOT.

Decats are cheaper than sports cats(which some MOTers argue are also illegal) even then they need to be very hot to pass the MOT

My Impreza has a decat and still only hits 88db. Just use a decent back box
