What they are like to live with?

I may buy one, early model. 2000-2004 models.

I know about Cat issues but any trouble with those car? like do they suffer from rust?? how do they deal with high mileage?

I had MK2 mr2 they are fun but getting too old now, my mr2 is 22 year old now. I had MX-5 twice, Mini cooper, some french hot hatchback.

so im looking for fun to drive car.

I would like rear wheel drive car, with good fuel econmny (30mpg+). doesnt matter how many seats. must have hardtop/roof. I dont do convertible car. must be reilable. NO British leyland craps. I have about £2k budget.
