Hi,

Just looking for a little guidance here.

I was involved in an RTC on Friday the 13th of September & I have been ruled at fault for the accident. I turned right crossing the highway of another car, which in turn clipped my car. I'm not disputing this & take full responsibility.

As a result my car was written off by my insurer, but despite the RTC happening over a month ago I have not received any payout from my insurer. Upon calling them yesterday to see how things were progressing, they told me that they are still waiting for a police report which they applied for on the 4th of October?

My question is this, why do they need the Police Report? Are they trying to see if I'm lying about anything?

Why did it take so long for them to apply for the report in the first place? (I guess I should be asking them that!)

The whole thing has been quite a frustrating experience, which I hold my hands up is my doing so I'm more cross at myself than anything.

But if anyone can give me some advice on how to proceed & get the wheels in motion I'd be very grateful.

Many Thanks,
Ady

They probably want the report to see if there is any chance of subrogating against the other insurance company. Which should not have any impact on your claim. Tell them you want payment for your loss and if they want to subrogate against the other parties at a later date they are welcome to try.

Thank you, that's just the type of reply I'm looking for.

Appreciated!
