how far does your fuel light take you?
Discussion
Mine is really bizarre, the light comes on at 45 miles and at 40 miles it doesent tell me how many miles are left. Now when i go to fill at about this point it puts in about 10-12 litres (minus the full tank) and im getting 40mpg brim to brim so basically it should say i have 80 left i am so confused lol.
So i darent try going for miles incase it conks out but it makes no sense.

I reckon most of mine have 50-70 miles in them from when the light comes on and 20-30 when the computer says 0.
But in the last 2 years I've come a cropper twice after 2 decades of never running out.
A 991 C2S leant to me for the day literally coughed and died just as the computer clicked on to 0 ( I was less than a mile from my intended filling station )
And my CLK Black did less than 10 miles after the computer clicked on to 0.
Both embarrassing.

When my light comes on, there is 10 litres of fuel remaining, however; if I get it below 7 litres, I get reduced power (3k rpm max) if I get below 3.9 litres, I get a simulated misfire, and then when pulling up to a standstill, the engine is switched off
It will restart, but to protect the high pressure pump and injectors, it runs a system called run dry prevention.
