perfect cheap saloon under £2000
Discussion
Hi guys
I have recently put up my M3 for sale and really looking for my next car.
Now I know it wont be as fast or as fun to drive as my M3 was, but I am at a point in my life where all my money cant be in one car and I need the money to progress and push my business forward.
I am stuck into which car to buy, things I want are 4 doors, comfy, reliable (so most likely a jap car) not too high mileage, something still stylish (so not dated look), and quiet on the motorway, I do want the car to have decent mpg, doesn't have to be diesel.
Cars I have been thinking are like:
Lexus IS200-300
GS300
Honda Accord 2003 models
I dont really like the look of the older audi's and I wouldn't mind an E39 BMW but the problem with them is if something goes wrong its normally expensive (I have had soo many BMW's already in my life haha)
Anyone got any idea's and thought of what else you would get?

Thanks for that! reading it now!as for the saab, I think saab's are good but have one of the most boring dash's I have ever seen, its just flat.. never thought it was my cup of tea. thanks for the input though
I just dont get along with Ford's.. no idea why I just see way to many of them all over, and growing up and seeing the ford mondeo I just though.. meh.. and since then its just stuck in that mind state.
Volvo S60 isn't a bad shout at all! how reliable are they?
Anyone driven or owned both the lexus LS and the Honda Legend to see how they are? which is better?

Off the top of my head:
Clutch/flywheel
Intercooler
Injectors on the 02 models
Those are the biggies to look out for.
see those things I read and im like.. its going to end up being a pain in the back one day!Clutch/flywheel

I am really liking the idea of a honda legend though.. the one thing that annoys me about the lesux GS300 is the motorway speed wheel shake that you can get, other than that the car would have ben perfect (brother is on his second one after wishing he never sold his first)
I also just love the way the IS200 or IS300 look! My sister has one and its been reliable but a mate had one and his one was a nightmare! we call his one the Italian Lexus haha

It's a fair point; they are certainly a bit retro.as for the saab, I think saab's are good but have one of the most boring dash's I have ever seen, its just flat.. never thought it was my cup of tea. thanks for the input though
I'm usually looking out of the windows most of the time....
Accords are a good bet, 03> were cam chain IIRC K20 good engine but K24 better.
Rear wheel speed sensors fail, check for crunching into gears on spanish, IMO stay away from diesels as DMF's and cracked exhaust manifolds are their achilles heel.
Type S models nice spec though 17" Penta wheels made of putty, I had 2 damaged by potholes in 2 years.
AC controls are part of the radio so check the cd/radio all works correctly else you have a pita sorting it out.
2.4's will get about 40mpg on a long run driving like a nun, mid 20's around town.
