Went to BCA Blackbushe today and was rather shocked by what the cars were achieving - I spoke with several dealers who were equally shocked by the prices cars are currently achieving. I had a very disappointing day as my wife and I were hoping to come home with the Quattroporte or the DB9 Volant but it was not to be as they achieved too much money!

Oddly enough when I was at Enfield there was some good bargains that could have been had, and some went through that I thought was dear for the auction.
I go at least once a week to various auctions, I like chelmsford the most. I would go blackbushe a lot more if it was closer, but Enfield, chelmsford and colchester is way more convenient for me to attend.

Patience is the key, usual cool story bro moment but a friends father picked up a 54 plate Quattroporte for 16k last year, nothing wrong with it save some wiring on the tail lights was an easy fix. If you get one invest in a battery conditioner as he found out they need them and nor are the batteries cheap.

It's a brave to assume that at an auction.
Too bloody right. The average private punter is a lamb to slaughter in that environment. Rings operate and you will only get the car if the trade don't want it or you are prepared to pay over the odds for it. Of course people will have stories of bargains and of course they do come up (although 16K for a ten year old Maser doesn't sound particularly cheap to me) but there are far more horror stories. The only prices that got my attention in that list were the cheaper M3 and the Macca. When I buy from auction I make a rule to go for several weeks in a row and never buy on the first visit. You'd be amazed how many cars 'sell' and reappear the same day or at the next auction.High auction prices are also a phenomenon of the financial cycle too. It's happened before and will happen again. After the 2008 bank crisis new car sales slumped. They are still falling quite sharply here in France whereas in the UK they have rebounded but the UK has a far higher car culture than here. The problem with falling new sales is the paucity of second-hand models two years down the line so prices don't fall as sharply as they usually do. I have seen it at least once in each of the last four decades.
