I'm reasonably fortunate in that one of the perks of my job is that I get to change cars every 3 months, so I get to try out quite a few different motors.

Yesterday, I swapped out my B8 Audi S4 Avant for a diesel A6 allroad. Not even one of the more interesting ones - the base 204PS V6 TDI.

Having tooled around in it for a couple of days, I'm almost ashamed to say that I much prefer it to the S4. I've put the air suspension into 'comfort' mode and I'm just enjoying wafting around in it sedately while the world rushes around me.

I started to find the S4's grumbly exhaust and over-eager kickdown response, and the fact that it felt like it was constantly goading me into licence-losing speeds tiresome. It's just not fun on the daily commute.

I now feel distinctly non-PH, preferring a jacked-up diesel barge on roly-poly suspension to a quick AWD estate with a supercharged V6 petrol engine.

What's made you doubt your PHness recently?

Being both 41 years old and now a skint mature student = driving to and from Uni in my re-mapped petrol turbo car at around 55mph to extract the maximum in fuel economy. And having competitions with myself to beat my best figure using the on-board computer.

Pretty anti - PH all round I guess...

sometimes I get a bit weary pumping a hundred quids worth of petrol into the jeep, only to burn it all up at an average of 16mpg

But then I slap myself and carry on smile

I tire of the drone of the exhaust of my 1M on the motorway...

Unless in a very light car, I find torque-lite engines that needs thrashing rather tiresome.

And I find auto wipers useful.

I'm starting to get pretty sick of 16mpg and often think that owning a Nissan Leaf is the way to go.

I really can't be bothered to get my car out of the garage and go for a drive anymore - rather take the winter shed.
What's wrong with me?

Every time I look at performance cars I compare them to a diesel - audi a8 4.2tdi for example and would rather drive that even though I'm desperate to try some silly sized engine petrol!

Preferring to take the Shedscort to work instead of the Impreza or Colt Lancer turbo.....

I started reading a magazine that wasn't car related earlier. 4 pages in I caught myself, binned it and went in the garage to sniff the cars.

Close call.

There's nothing wrong with Plumpers Monthly - sometimes has a car related story in it.

I bought a complete poof's TVR with only the 4.0l V8 rather than a full-kamikaze 4.5 Cerbera with ejection seats. I'll try harder next time smile.

I've gone from AMG Mercs to a normal E500 and it's much preferable, not as frantic and I feel less pressure to 'drive' it.
Second car for kid transport is my first people carrier ever (but it is a 3.5 v6 one) - slightly PH ?
