Was just wondering about what the level of technical knowledge is on PH. Thought this would be interesting question to kick off with.

Or, less umm, lowbrow, inhalation, compression, combustion, exhalation.

Works on women too.

I went for no idea.

It's probably something to do with sex.

Yes, it's a term used by women, to discribe men who come too quickly.

As in "he's a four stroke"

Four stroke I understand, it's two stroke that I can't get my head around. paperbag

I wrote a 40 page technical report on the thermodynamics behind it and have designed parts that go inside a 4 stroke engine.

Rinsed and repeated for gas-turbine engines.

Bloody university.

I know you didn't make the diagram, but it's not really an explosion, but combustion.

I knew that a two stroke engine 'mixed' the exhaust and induction phases but I've never seen a cut away plan like that. Are all two stroke pistons shaped like that as opposed to the (relatively) flat-topped 4 stroke pistons?

The ideal air to fuel ratio mix for optimum combustion... can't remember the exact ratio though (I know it had a 4 in it)
