Winter tyres - Nokian WR A3
Discussion
I'm just hovering over the buy button for a set from MyTyres via eBay.
Reviews seem limited, but the ones I have found seem quite positive - obviously not as good as the likes of Conti TS850 etc. but I can buy four of these in 205/55/16 for under £300, as opposed to £100 more for the Contis.
One thing that seems attractive is that they are supposedly designed to handle on a dry, bare road, too.
I'm not particularly interested in discussing whether winter tyres are warranted - I'm self employed and these will pay for themselves if they get me to work just one day I wouldn't have been able to otherwise, which is quite likely in the event of snow in a nearly 2 tonne, RWD Auto.
Has anyone tried these or does anyone have any suggestions at a similar price point?

I've got a set of these going on rims next week for my BMW 330 but probably won't put them on the car until the temperature drops, so you'd have to wait a bit for a report!
I ran the Nokian All Weather + tyres on my previous car and Nokians generally are known to be very good in slush and standing water, so I stuck with the brand after having a look at the other popular winter tyres. I find slush is a particular problem in my neck of the woods.
The All Weather + were excellent in the snow and the DR A3 is likely to be better as it's a dedicated winter tyre, so I don't think you'll be disappointed and at just over £100 per tyre for 225-45 17s I think they're good value.

They are excellent and I recommend them highly.

Thanks, after a little more digging I came across Conti TS850s for just £10 a corner more.
£339 from Ears Motorsport - I figure they may be a safer bet if they are topping all the winter tyre tests and I've been mighty impressed with the current Conti CS2s in heavy rain/flooding over the last couple of days.
