I'm interested in a local 335d - however it has around 150k miles on it.
The price is right though and has been well looked after.
Is there anything to look for at these miles on a 335d? With that amount of milrs it must all be motorway so I expect it's had a better life than a town car...

E46 or E90?

I've heard there are some quite serious issues that creep up with E46's over moon mileage...

But, as you've said, probably all motorways so going to be in good nick providing its been treated right and serviced where needed.

They cope with big mileages very well I've got a petrol 335i 56 reg thats getting close to 200,000 miles, fsh, no major issues, still on original clutch, suspesnion and turbos, doesnt use oil, still drives nice and tight.

Not sure about diesel issues on the 335 model, but the rest of the car should fine based on how my one drives.

You don't get an e46 335 anything.

150k is usually the DPF replacement.

Check to see if its been changed yet if not then it will need doing soon and parts alone are upwards of £1500. If it has been done no worries

If the price is right and you've a few quid tucked away for any potential repairs then go for it.

Thanks for the replies. I can get a BMW driveline warranty for 66 quid a month - might be worth considering..

DPF is a service item.

go on condion and history and have the dpf deleted, maybe get an expert opinion from a rac check to be sure

if the price is right as well then its a good buy and probably alot of car and peformance for the money

Just bear in mind for this to stand the service history needs to be 100% bang on - although not necessarily from a BMW main dealer.

If you're considering this I'd be ringing them up with service book in hand and see if the cover will stand.

It's also no use if you're after modifying the car - remaps or deleting DPF's etc? and DPF's are a service item and 150k is probably around time for one.
