F-Type coupe V8 S spotted

The fastest hardtop F-Type spied on the road; we can't wait!

Be honest, this is the F-Type you've been waiting for, isn't it? We know the convertible, we love the convertible, but the coupe promises to make the F Type experience even more sensational again.

Spy images have been circulating for a while now but this lead shot, submitted by a sharp-eyed PHer, show a V8 S coupe on the M69 headed towards MIRA from Castle Bromwich. A journey it's probably made a few times by now.

Furthermore, a few European spy shots have shown another rather interesting V8 S. Take a look at the wheels of the car in the bottom pic; the snowflake design of the alloys is new, but so are the orange calipers. Is Jaguar planning on introducing carbon ceramic brakes to the F Type V8, as seen on the XKR-S GT? Some have been critical of the cabrio V8's 1,665kg kerbweight, so perhaps Jaguar has made attempts to shed a few kilos for the coupe, and make it even more driver-focused.

What do those orange calipers signify then?
What do those orange calipers signify then?
The styling has, thankfully, stayed very close to the C-X16 concept, the sloping hatchback deliberately evoking its iconic predecessor. Might free up some actual boot space now too...

With nothing official as yet, we can only speculate on the F-Type coupe spec and invite you to do the same. Expect to see it at a motor show during 2014 attracting quite a crowd.

Cannot wait to see the fully fledged coupe in the metal. The convertible looks stunning, but this should be in a different league. Definitely one to own in a few years time as a great second hand buy. Unfortunately I don't think I could stump up for a new one, even if it will cost less than the convertible. Jaguar are back and onto a winner. All they need now is an entry level model and the Germans won't know whats hit them!

Looking forward to seeing various hardcore versions of this brute. A very exciting alternative to Aston Martin's new V12 Vantage S, sans £40k. smile

Ooh, looks lovely. I bet the boot will be very usable without having to have a roof stowed in it too.

I saw this test mule a couple of months ago near Leamington - difficult to work out the true shape, but it looked well-proportioned

Someone beat me to it on the boot space comment... wink

At least it's got half a chance of carrying more than a briefcase as a coupe, at least so long as they don't offer a full sized spare!

Looks good...! biggrin

Unlike the E-Type, it looks like the Coupe is shaping up to be prettier than the convertible.

Can't wait to see this in the flesh. A few kilos less would be good, but I also really hope they've done something about the boot space. Jaguar has finally created another great sports car, but it's a bit too GT orientated to get away with the glove box-like storage IMHO.

Its probably a hatch like the XK so the boot space shouldnt be too bad

For me the F-type has been a missed opportunity as the car just is not beautiful enough in my honest opinion.

The front looks too much like a Nissan GTR and the sides are just too fat and boring.

Beautiful cars such as the E-type, Miura, Dino, 308 have a sinuous top line that rises and falls and rises again. The F-type rises over the front wheels and then is nearly a straight line along the the side top line until it has past over the rear wheels. No detail or beauty in that for me just looks dull and lazy.

Look at the beauty in the dino attached and that lovely line up and over the front wheel then down and back up again over the rear wheel, perfect.

Looks good. The F-Type has the potential to develop into a great range of sports cars, from V8s to V6s plus the new Hotfire with or without S/C or hybrid versions. If anyone doubts the potential of the Hotfire, remember how well it performed in the recent concept coupe (C-X75)?

I'm struggling to make a case for the F Type.
I'm sure an Aston Martin Vantage, Corvette C7 or even their own XK R would seem to be a better option, especially in the US which I believe is still Jaguars' main sales territory.

Allow me to help.

Aston Vantage:- long in the tooth
Corvette:- plastic sh!t
XK:- soon to be history.
