Alfa 4C configurator launched

It's amazing how a few spare hours can be consumed on car configurators. As they grow in complexity, so our deliberations over fantasy builds become more intense. Do I need PDCC on the Cayman? What colour piping for the Mulsanne leather? Can I really have a V8 AMG without a locking differential?

Standard wheels ok, teledials better...

In a break from the norm, Alfa's new configurator page for the 4C is refreshingly simple. Choose exterior colour, wheel design and brake calipers and you're half way there. We can't find an interior section yet (red leather for our grey car please), so all that's left to choose after that is are the headlights (no carbon fibre delete, just a halogen or xenon choice) plus spoiler and exhaust options (standard is probably fine thanks).

We've made a few very quickly now, the red car with the entirely standard wheels and the off-white thing the most unappealing we could make a 4C at present. How would yours look? Please post below!

I got excited when I saw the headlights option.... Then I saw that both choices were equally gopping ;-)

The red with those wheels from that angle look like a little ferrari.

Pretty sure the 458 has similar wheels.

What an utterly boring and uninspiring palette to choose from:

Black
Grey
White
White
Red
Red

It costs the manufacturer the sum total of sod all to offer a different colour (especially if it appears elsewhere in their range). Exec cars are even worse. Audi A8 range goes from black to blue that's as near as damnit black, to silver, silver, grey, silver & white.

If nothing else its making our carparks & road monochrome!

Still say the E46 BMW is the only car that not only looks good in every colour I've seen it in but was available in pretty much every colour too!

I made a similar observation the other day as I was staring out the office window - such a boring selection of colours, bookended but the ubiquitous black and white (severely over-played)..

Part of the reason my Octy vRS estate appealed to me so much was because it's bright yellow! Not lost it in a carpark yet!

Agree with the above about poor colour choice these days, seems like if you want something a little bit special for a German car at least then you need to pay a few £K for access to the BMW 'Individual', Audi 'Exclusive' or Mercedes 'Designo' collections

The video configurator is annoyingly slow, the 360 configurator one of the worst I've seen and no interior choices?

I was interested in an Alfa in the past and they were woeful at staying in touch.

I kinda like it, but those wing mirrors look so oddly placed. Ruins it for me.
