I bought an Irish registered private plate online , and as it origins to Ireland I sent off fee and relevant documents,
This was 9 weeks ago now and still nothing back contacted dvla and they have no trace of any application to them for the numberplate in question, I was told that new docs will come from dvla now.
Still waiting for reply from dvlni anyone done similar that could advise
Thanks.

You should check if the car is stolen. A lot of travellers come from ireland and are known to steal cars and sell them to english people who are not streetwise. There is a good chance your car will be seized if stolen. You could even go to prison.

I wouldn't touch an irish car or plate. I'd say you have a 90% chance of it being stolen. You could be funding terrorism.

The fact that he is being serious is the truly scary bit.

I think you need to read my question again, just checked your previous posts and you seem to like commenting on things you clearly don't know about.
I didn't say it was on an Irish car,and what's wrong with a plate that origins from Ireland? It was bought through a popular online site

Which DSLR would you recommend to take pictures of a terrorist car? You know to show the cops whilst demonstrating your photography skills hehe

Umm, hold on a minute... You say "Irish", then you say "DVLNI". I _presume_ you mean it's an Ulster plate. If it's an IRISH plate, then you can't transfer it to a British-registered car any more than you could a French or Polish one.

An Irish plate from Ireland or a UK plate from Northern Ireland?

It'll be an NI plate, it has to be, nobody would try and put an Irish plate on a UK car for use over here, although it'd be bloody funny if you could !

Edited to add that I don't think NI is part of the UK, I think the UK is England, Scotland, & Wales.

Exactly why when I bought my wife a plate for her TT I went to DVLA rather than one of the supposed cheaper alternatives.

One thing I did notice was on the on-line road tax page, check the details of both registrations.
The old one suddenly came up as no longer found, as did the new one, then a day or so later then new reg appeared on the cars details.
Who did you but it throught?

England, Wales and Scotland are Great Britain. The UK is these three plus N.Ireland. I have no idea where the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands fit in. Or Lundy. Or Rockall. Presumably the Scilly Isles are part of Cornwall, who consider themselves more Breton than British. It's just all so complicated.

Errm, I wouldn't say that if I were you! You'll have legions of bowler hatted Orangemen beating down your door.

It is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The six Counties of Ulster are currently British. Whether they should be is an entirely different argument.
