"I want to hear them and I want to hear them now!"

I think the M25 should have it's tarmac surface replaced with an airport style conveyer belt. It'd be powered by a series of underground nuclear reactors, and have a set rotational speed of 70mph.

This has the benefit of keeping campaigners happy as it keeps the relative speed of 70, but allows anyone who wants to do 70 the benefit of travelling at 140mph (and of course, the actual speed should settle down to about 155)

It also abolishes the concept of "slow drivers" since anyone stopping will still make good progress.

The slowest vehicles will be old ladies driving against the flow, who's actual "speed" will still be about 40mph.

Any others?

I've been musing the idea of deleting debt - all debt, from massive sovereign debt to the 20p you underpaid the milkman and promised next time.

Money, all money is of course a completly man-made and invented concept and yet we, its inventor, have become its slaves - we've been walking around sulking for 5 years or more because it's not moving about as it should - it's like crying because our imaginary friend isn't talking to us. Cancel the lot - "yes, but what about the pension funds, banks, china, children" you'll hear! To this I say - fk it, it'll be a laugh. It's bound to be good.

No, but our transportation system in this country will get to the next level.

What would happen if you reversed at 70 mph whilst on the conveyer belt!

We could replace money with shells with a picture of the queen on them. A single sweet would be one small shell. A Rolex watch would cost about 350,000 small shells. Hm. Now that I think about it, rocking up to a shop with 350,000 small shells would be silly. So how about write the value of various amounts of shells on paper. For instance, a 5,000 shell piece of paper, a 2,000 shell piece of paper. And use metal to represent smaller multiples. Like a silverish disk of metal to represent 50 shells, a small copper disk to represent 1 shell. And I'd need somewhere to store my shells. Somewhere secure.

The cars should have a bar code on them, when they go through the Dartford crossing they could be scanned like the till at the supermarket.

Even simpler than a barcode, they could have a plate with a registered number unique to that vehicle. A mixture of numbers and letters should allow enough combinations.

Owners of 06 and 07 plate BMW X5's could all be issued with individual plates with X and 5 included so they look rich and cool. Middle aged orange women could have their name Susan depicted as SU51 ARN because that's their name.

I'm in.

and when a drop of rain or two falls from the sky and suddenly we are plunged into a gigantic traffic jam, and you are sitting there, stationary in the jam (but still moving at 70mph)when you see your junction appear.... then whip past... oh dear.
Or you pull over to the hard shoulder for a wee, then step off the road and get flung up a siding at 70 mph.....

This has been happening in Ireland for years on the m50 around Dublin. And anyone from the north doesn't have to pay because they don't know where to send the bill.

They used to do just that back in the days of the Greek and Roman era's. Obviously the money in question in those days was a lot less than nowadays; but then again its all relative.

Apparently the big cities who loaned money to each other would cancel the debt after a certain length of time if the debt became un-repayable or the economy was stagnating because of the repayments. Once the slate was cleaned they would start loans all over again for those who wanted, and thus the economy would recover.

I'm not savvy enough to know whether such a thing would work these days, it would be interesting to see the real consequences of it though, disregarding any fat-cats who would lose profits - thats not what its about.

What happens afterwards? Do we abolish credit - I guess there won't be too many lenders left, but that's fine.

Two things: we need to set a date when all debts are reduced to zero (as it's unfair to let people without debts not have a chance to get some). And we need to pass a law that makes it illegal for loan companies to refuse credit.

You'd have a very shagged reverse gear and an engine that was sitting at beyond the red line.

A bit like why you shouldn't buy an ex police car. (apparently).

My idea of the day, is erm, scrap PAYE, make everyone self employed.

I think number plate recognition has moved on, since 1983.

Why not tax animals instead of people? There's lots of them, benefitting from street lighting and nature and all sorts of stuff, whilst polluting the planet and being obscene in public. If they were taxed, people wouldn't have to work, we could all chill. Is that the kind of thing?
