Very happy with my cheapish "new car!.."
Discussion
Some of you may remember all the threads I started a week or so back about cheap sheds, Fords, Vauxhalls, Hondas and specifically BMWs. Well in the end I bottled it on buying an ageing high mileage Beemer (I am not handy with a spanner) and went for something more "sensible" for what is a main family vehicle and am extremely happy! Yip, I found an immaculate Mazda 6 2.0TS on ebay with full dealer history on an 05 plate and paid £1,650, which I think is pretty good and a lot less than the equivalent Passat/A4 would cost. I know these cars are "no ball of fire" but on a budget I wanted something that won't cause me big bills! This car is petrol, with no cam-belt, no DMF, no DPF, turbo, etc etc, drives very sweetly, is like new inside and handles beautifully. These petrol Mazda 6s are really very driver orientated. The way this car darts for apexes is quite surprising after my old B5.5. Passat!! My other car is a 205 GTI 1.9 and I can tell you that it in its own way, this car corners just as well! So there you go. Its possible to have a not too ancient, sensible but fun to drive car on a budget!!
