Had one of my winter tyres repaired last year (to fix a puncture) and then went on to drive many thousands of miles on it before putting my winter tyres away in spring.

I was just about to pop them back on and noticed the plug on the repaired tyre protrudes out (not beyond the tyre block).
I have no idea if this is normal or if this has occurred whilst I drove on it or during storage. The tyre continues to hold its air pressure.

Is this normal and safe ?

Looks OK to me. Normally they trim it down but the position in the block has likely made that difficult.

If its not losing air I'd not worry about that at all.

Looks fine to me - and just like the ones I've had done.

Yep, the plug is inserted from the inside & bonded/glued in place, the excess is then just cut back to the surface of the tread.

Yep, it's fine, and perfectly safe and normal.

Absolutely fine looks like a safe legal repair. it will wear down with the tread.
That's how a repair should look

It's fine, as mentioned above the plug patch is pulled through from inside the tyre, they look like this to start with.

Yep. Had one done on my wife's car which looked like that. It took another 10K before the tyre wore out and I replaced it.

Again, just to make you happy - yes, all the plugs I have had have protruded like this - and that includes both car and motorbike tyre repairs.

The plug just wears down with the tread as it goes along.

Don't worry further!

It's the quality of the repair inside the tyre that matters, not how much of the stem is left over which is totally normal.
