Turning left at a roundabout by turning right.
Discussion
Anyone else noticed more of this happening?
Often, while I'm stuck in a long queue of traffic waiting to turn left at a roundabout I've noticed more and more people driving down the RHS, indicating right and then driving right around the island to effective leapfrog all the queue.
It's just an observation, not a value judgement!

If spotted by the police, it's likely to see the guilty party receiving a fine. It was mentioned as part of the MLM and tailgating public notice made a few months back.
Really? Please find link! Or try to explain how using the road legally is illegal?I've done it before when I've needed to be somewhere otherwise I'll queue normally

Here we go again....
Between this subject and parking in parent & child spaces at Tesco, Pistonheads would just be a sea of what car threads and frozen sausages.
I think the last time the subject came up it was decided that it was either :
(a) legal and acceptable
Or
(b) scummy and rude
Take your pick.

The new laws actually state that "being in the wrong lane and pushing into a queue on a roundabout", is an offence, as is "overtaking and pushing into a queue of traffic". Neither of these apply to this case.vescaegg said:
Perfectly legal no? And probably common sense if it means not queueing?
It probably annoys the same sort of people who straddle both lanes when there is a merge in turn so people can't 'jump the queue'.
These are the same eejits who sit and queue for ages at petrol stations rather than use a pump on the other side (just pull the filler round you morons). It probably annoys the same sort of people who straddle both lanes when there is a merge in turn so people can't 'jump the queue'.
I do it. Spend 10 mins waiting to turn left in the left hand lane or go up the empty RH lane, go all the way round the roundabout and to the exit of your choice with no real impact on the aforementioned traffic in the left hand lane, all the while saving yourself 9 mins and avoiding wasting fuel? No brainer for me, don't see why anybody finds it rude either.
