Mr Cosworth's Sierra to be sold

Least molested RS ever? Mike Costin's own car to be auctioned at the NEC classic show

The sixth Ford Sierra RS Cosworth ever produced, owned by Cosworth co-founder Mike Costin, will be sold by auction at Birmingham's NEC Classic Motor Show next weekend.

Or perhaps Moonstone Blue?
Or perhaps Moonstone Blue?
The white Cossie is completely original, right down to its mild steel exhaust, and has actually resided in the Cosworth HQ for the past fifteen years. It's got 63,500 miles on the clock and is expected to make between £25,000 and £30,000.

For around half that, this one-owner Moonstone Blue Sierra looks a good buy with 88,000 miles, while this white, trailer-queen 1987 car has covered just 3,500 miles. The full auction catalogue can be seen here and, well, we couldn't resist a quick virtual flick through.

Highlights? This 1980 Talbot Sunbeam Lotuslooks ace and is expected to make around £15K. With another £100,000, a Ford RS200 could probably be yours. And nearing its 20th birthday, this Ferrari F355 still looks just as beautiful as it must have in 1994. Yummy.

Something about 80's rally cars that make them all cool these days. If only money allowed I'd have each of the following:

Sierra Cosworth
Lancia Delta integrale
Lancia 037
Lancia Delta S4
RS200
UR Quattro (got!)
Metro 6R4
205 turbo 16

That's a different car to the Mike Costin owned one ( which has recorded 63500 miles )

It's great to hear there are still unmolested examples of motoring icons usually fettled with out there. Although, the twin pipes on the rear of the white Sierra, is that standard issue? Don't think I've ever seen one without a drainpipe hanging off of the back!

Now there's a Ford I can lust after.

I just don't get the love for (roadgoing) Mk1 Escorts but these hit the spot for me. Along with the equivalent Escorts and Sapphires this was a whole new chapter for Ford.

Great iconic car and i have seen and heard rs with alot of miles and owners fetch more money than that, I think the sale price will reach a lot more than the £25k

PS an RS200 for £100k bargain tonight I will look down the back of the sofa to see how much I can get together.

A lovely original example, but not quite the best left. There is a white one is a well known collection with under 200 miles from new, a white RS500 that has never been registered, and quite a few very low miles (sub 10,000 miles) original condition RS500s still around.

Its an early production car, there were over 100 pre production 3drs built before this by Ford on c plates many are still around.

You cannot beat a cossie biggrin I cannot understand at all by cosworth are selling it though, its an icon for their brand

Wow, an iconic car from an iconic brand. I wonder why the latter would sell the former? Strange...

Such a shame some are sitting about not getting driven.

A couple of weeks ago a lovely 3 door cossie came past at a rate of knots on the M25. Lovely cars smile

A real motoring icon.

I remember when these were new, nothing these days has quite as much impact, certainly not costing what they did.
