M3 e92 or Z4 M Coupe
Discussion
Hi guys, as title suggests which one?
Having narrowed it down too these 2 cars, (Porsche Cayman S) was also in the frame but the chocolate engine in it puts me off, which one is best.
Don't really need 4 seats as misses has a bm 1series, but looking for car to excite me, as will be only driven at weekends and some evenings.
Budget is roughly about 20k which I know puts me top of the z4 m price bracket and bottom ish of M3 bracket.
Has anybody owned driven both? And if so which is best/preferred?
Having a test drive in M3 on Monday and Z4 M Coupe on Tuesday to see how they compare.

The M3 V8 is glorious
I've never driven one but the noise (or lack of) is enough to put me off. I've heard a couple of them being revved and driven away at full chat and it sounds more like a hair dryer than a V8.For the record I'm talking about a standard M3 before someone posts a YouTube link to one with a modified exhaust...
Not driven the M3, but as a weekend car would recommend the Coupe.
Lots of fun (on the right roads), sublime S54 engine and very ‘chuckable' little car.
Highly capable long distance GT. Did a 3k euro trip in mine this summer which was an absolute joy. Nice big boot also.
Worth noting that the Z4MC was only produced for 2 years, making them rather rare and exclusive. (Potential future classic ?)
If you’re not putting much mileage on the vehicle, likely you won’t lose much on depreciation as I believe they have just about bottomed out.
I’m sure the M3 is more versatile, but the Coupe is something else.

I spent a £100 on the 'OEM Exhaust Mod'. Trust me, you would hear mine being driven at full chat (and pretty much any other speed) and it sounds magnificent. For the record I'm talking about a standard M3 before someone posts a YouTube link to one with a modified exhaust...
Managed to test drive the M3 this afternoon what can I say, awesome bit of kit! That engine is to die for, above 4500rpm it is just an animal, very impressed by it. Felt like a big car but may be that has something to do with driving the misses 1series for the last few months. It's a serious licence loser though, blink of an eye you can get into 3 figures, on a private road of course....

And yes, the engine woes do put you off.
