Are these absolutely full of bork? I'm not the biggest 911 fan in the world, but this is an amazing price on face value.
Even the interior is the right colours, proper steering wheel etc.
Question is, would it be worth buying one like this, running for 6 months or so, and then shifting on. Or are they crap, hence being worth only 8k

Looks like a bargain, actually perhaps a little too good to be true?
I sold my C4 a couple of months ago and got more money for it than I paid myself, I only changed the tyres in my 18 months of ownership. It was a great car in a great colour and a few years younger than that one. Ultimately too easy to drive and I found it rather dull, to get any sort of enjoyment out of it you had to be doing silly speeds.
This ones had a rebuild too, so bar anything catastrophic happening to the engine, I can't see you losing money on it. I bet you could move it on for £10k in the summer.

It may well go pop. In all likely hood it probably won't. But the alternative is a thoroughly w@nked 993 or a a rotten pig of a 964. I'd go for the better, newer car and take the risk that goes with every 10-15 year old secondhand performance car. An £8500 E46 M3 is just as likely to spring a big bill - that's why they're £8500 and not the £50k they cost new.

That one actually says it's had the rebuild already.
Doesn't mention why it's got 997 alloys though, oddly.

On that basis, what a car. Lose the 997 wheels (on Ebay) and refit the correct wheels that are worth about 2 kits kats and a Twix. 996's will have their day, just as the utterly unloved 964 eventually did. Compared to the current 911, the 996 does indeed look a bit classic.
I like air cooled 911's, but you won't get one that's better than scrap for 8 grand.

I actually really like the 997 wheels. I know it isn't "correct", but I think it improves the look no end.On that basis, what a car. In a way they're not unlike the Dino 308 GT4. They replaced he iconic 246GT and lived in its shadow for years. Only now is it being appreciated for it's sharp lines and its a better car. The 996 is the thinking Man's 911. It's got the looks and performance, but costs the same as a Dacia Dreadful. Doesn't look dreary to me - it's a Porsche 911. I wouldn't be at all ashamed to smoke one.
