I am now the owner of an MG with Swimming pool...
Discussion
Well for the last few days I have noticed an ever increasing amount of moister in the car. It got to the point where I had to get a towel to clear the windscreen.
So today I thought it would be a good idea to see if I anything wet in the car. I removed all the floor mats and then noticed the passenger footwell was pretty soaked, a quick removal of the trim and lifted the carpet confirmed I do indeed have a swimming pool in the footwell!
After using 4 of my wifes best towels to soak the worst of it up I have now cleared room for in the garage for the car to live for the time being as it looks like the windscreen is leaking.
Any idea on what the best way to get the water out of the carpet and sound deadening foam? Can I bung a heater in there and a dehumidifier?

The sound deadening foam will take forever to dry out in winter if left in the car.
Take it out if you can ,wring it out and hang to dry if you can.
When i tried to drown a Fiesta RST i binned all the sound deadening and removed the entire
interior to clean it up but it was a tad wetter than yours....

On the source POV- one time I had a Sierra heater matrix go funny, I had steam out of heater, loss of coolant and wet carpets. Skoda Fabia owners are aware of this coming from door cards( pools of water on inside of door sills). BL/BMC cars used to suffer from blockage of door drain holes . One other cause, I've noticed is dog left in car in not too warm weather. For a 20 min visit to Adsa, with madam left in car, we can expect a lot of steamy windows . Can't suggest a cure , but this reminds me of the MG/Rover pedigree where Top Gear took some old cars and filled them with water. One emptied as fast as it filled .
My Quantum was like that last week, ironically once I'd put the winter hard top on. Turns out the hard top is more porous than I thought
Anyway, I've vaxed the carpets and thrown silica gel in there til I hopefully win an auction on ebay for a rechargeable dehumidifier that I can just leave in the car for a few days
You can get a wet n dry Vax type cleaner from B&Q on hire if no friends/family can lend one. If you're anywhere near me I'l happily lend you mine
