Some sod has driven into the S2000 and proper buggered up the OS front wing, headlight is all wonky too, must have given it a properly good belt. frown

No note, will ask around the neighbours during the week.

I'm guessing the answer is no... if I decided to claim on the insurance would they insist on it?

Just weighing up a bodge DIY fix (get same colour wing from breakers, whack it on, bonk the light with a rubber mallet till it's back in place)...

Insurance or pay for it myself.

Several friends of mine have been the victims of various types of car crime over the last few years and unfortunately I'd have to say theres no bloody point at all. Even if you'd seen the car driving off it would probably take you the next 12 months of harrassing them, making phone calls and nagging to actually get anything done (possibly).

They have been a complete and utter joke in my expience. One was a hit and run like this, but my mate was in the car and witnessed it, taking the reg. He was still chasing it up almost a year later. Another mate owns a garage and had a customers car nicked, and a neighbour identified a former employee and his mates, the police never contacted him. The same ex employee had previously stolen a customers phone from a car and used it to make calls to his ex girlfriend. This information was passed on to the police who once again didn't even contact the ex or the employee. Some diagnostics equipment was stolen from the garage, again the prime suspect was you know who, the police didn't bother to even knock his door and when the guys came around to check out the scene, take finger prints etc, they refused to take prints from the entry point because it was 10ft up in the air, stating "I don't get paid enough to do that".

So no, I wouldn't waste your time.

Wasn't so much expecting them to do anything, after all I didn't witness anything and I doubt the neighbours did either..

It was probably one of the neighbours anyway.

I'll give it a miss then!

Currently trying to word the A3 poster that's going in the windscreen of the car in the morning..

"Dear dhead, yes you, the tt who drove into this car and thought it was OK to not leave your details.. if I ever find you I will eat your children"

or something suitably over the top like that.

For all the good the police will do you might as well report it to a brick wall.

Are you not supposed to legally report all accidents. - which this would fall into?

Though I guess no one saw it so all that will happen is more of your time wasted.

I saw something similar at a hotel not long ago I was packing the car to leave and a chap in another car got to his vehicle and I heard him cursing then looking at his headlamp and drivers wing all smashed in. ( hopefully the hotel CCTB caught that hit and run).

Police won't be the slightest bit interested... unless you tell them your S2000 is parked in a bus lane. rolleyes

Best just suck it up, move on and don't tell anyone, 'cause you won't gain anything and once it ends up on the stats it'll be used as an excuse for your insurance to go up.

What have you got to lose?

They may, or may not be, interested if a similar thing has happened in the area but you will only find out if you call.

My s2000 is in the bodyshop this week for exactly the same thing, just in the rear 1/4 panel. Only choice I had was to pay £320 to fix it or £250 excess and whatever the increase was next year... So I've got a £320 bill coming Friday/Saturday.

If I remember correctly road traffic accidents only need reporting to plod if there is a suspected injury.

Don't think I will bother then...

I'm half hoping to get home and find a note and contact details on screen.

Probably wont through.

So frustrating...

Looking like new wing, and a few hours labour and quite a lot of spray work... Its red and ten years old so a colour match is going to be hard.
