Does anyone on here own a Captur with automatic transmission?
Mrs Blib was considering this as a replacement for her SEAT. However, the reviews all mention how when you put your foot down to get quick acceleration, for instance when approaching a roundabout and seeing a gap, or when attempting to swiftly pull out of a turning into a main road - things town drivers do many times a day, the car bogs down while hunting for gears.
Is this so?
If it is, we'll give it a miss. We owned an early, new shape Civix EX with their auto box. IMO, it was a dangerous liability for those very reasons. I would cruise up to a roundabout, see a gap, put my foot down and nothing. The reason was that the 'box was constantly hunting for sixth gear. Even at very low speeds and so it could not react and downshift three or four gears quickly enough.
Honda always denied that there was a problem with the box. However, my car had its software updated twice. Once on my insistence. In the end, we sold the car. Honda changed the auto box for a standard one in the Civic a year or so later. Still denying that there was a problem.
Have you found problems like that in town driving?

Sounds like the quickshift box they fit in the master vans I've sold, try and go for a gap and the gaping chasm as the gearbox changes up from first but doesn't find second can be quite disconcerting!
It's not a quickshift box, it's a new EDC box.The quickshift doesn't get used anymore.

It's not the changing up, it's the changing down. If the renault box is anything like the Honda unit, it will try to get into top gear asap and will be unable to change down quickly enough when you put your foot down.In the Honda, there was at first no response, then as one lifted off because the opportunity was lost, the car would suddenly kick down a couple or three gears and lurch forward.
As I said, potentially dangerous and totally unacceptable. I'm amazed that Renault have possibly opted for a similar set up.
Shame as, with a proper box, I'm certain Mrs Blib would have bought a Captur.

They look good in the metal but you have to be careful with the personalisation options as if a colour-blind person goes a bit crazy then you end up with this:

Same reason why there are so many new shape Clios with red interiors being bumped in the daily rental fleets. They must have a load of red trim sitting around in the factory that noone orders
