Merc W202 central locking question

Looking for some info for a C220 (W202) central locking please.
Just taken in as a trade in a 1996 model and the key fob doe not work. Ive replaced the key batteries and checked for infra red output and the remote seems fine. The air pump and all four door and boot actuators are ok as it will lock from inside with the dash button. The green and red lights on the mirror also do nothing and the immobilikser is inactive as it starts ok. The key used in the passenger door will also only lock that door, none of the others so there is no way of locking the car from the outside. Also cleaned up the infra red receiver window in the door handle to no avail. Is there a re sync method for this model?
