Rocked up to work this morning to find some knob had parked over the drive to my builders yard where I keep my pick up, which also has a number of lock up garages, some of which have cars in. Didn't recognize the car as local so didn't know where to go to ask the owner to shift it, neighbor to my yard was out so couldn't ask him if he knew either and the car was locked. So, went to fetch a rope to attempt to drag the 'offending vehicle' out of the way, but as I returned, the car drove off, didn't see driver. What would you have done, bearing in mind not being able to get the pick up out would mean no work/no money?

This is the missing 'h' that should have gone in what. Pretend it's theresmile

I live on a farm so if our entrance was blocked it would only take a few seconds to "relocate" it. It also happens fairly reglarly as people seem to think our driveway is some sort of Lay by, the other day I had a altercation with some people who was parked in our driveway eating a picnic lunch in their car.

Agreed. Also maybe a sign as such.

"PARK HERE AND SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR WILL MOVE IT, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. IF YOU THEN WISH TO DISCUSS, PLEASE ASK FOR 'BLADE' AT RECEPTION OF UNIT 3 WHO WILL MEET YOU OUTSIDE FOR A VERY QUICK CONVERSATION. CONSIDER THIS NOTICE FAIR WARNING"

In the 80s, we'd had a meal out in Dorking and went to leave the car park only to find a car had completely blocked the entrance.
Dad went to every pub and restaurant in the town to see if he could find the owner; no luck and two very tired kids in his Shogun.
So he rammed it out of the way; bit of paint on the bumper, other car trashed.

Very naughty but it worked.

So they can't drive out of the way? Nice logic

relocate car yourself .... take care that it "doesnt block the highway" because then the police would have to be involved wink

Happened to a mate a few years ago when someone parked across his drive. was told by the police it was a civil matter that it wasnt an offence as far as they are concerned.
However if he damaged it, it would then be criminal damage and he would be liable to be "done".!

Police can only do something if it were to be obstructing the highway wink (read into that what you will..... ! )

I would have bipped my horn to see if the car owner appeared.
If he didn't I would have used a rope like you.

If the driver did appear much would depend on the first ten words out of his mouth and whether I was in a good mood or not.

Huge difference between a police apologetic driver vs a rude aggressive one.

My brother in law came home to find his drive partially blocked, enough to prevent him getting in the drive. He had a Big Jeep at the time so with full lock on he managed to get the near side front tyre against the rear off side bumper of the offending car and "push" it forward the couple of feet needed to get in without damaging his car.

This made a bit of a mess of the rear bumper on the other car. Two hours later Mr Angry is knocking on the door, my B in L opened the door and calmly explained he knew nothing about the damage, but that Mr Angry might want to consider parking with more consideration to prevent his car becoming damaged further in future.

It probably helped that B in L is a 6'5" 18st body builder.

If you are in a car park how are you supposed to tow a car parked across the entrance of said car park. Surely you'd need to be outside the car park to tow it out of the way and by virtue of not being in the car park the problem would have solved itself?

Plus you'd need a rope.

If it's preventing you getting a vehicle out, the police will tow it away.

The police will help if you are blocked in, but if I was in a hurry I'd have got a tow rope out.

Berlin; no; it was parallel parked right across the entrance. The only direction it could move was sideways.
Maybe blocking a car park entrance full of cars is a little tw4ttish?

Just curious, do you think my '96 escort 1.6 petrol estate would have been able to drag the mk1 micra out of the way?
