Mate of mine just sold a car, put an advert up on a local 'Bay website, had a call within 15 seconds and it had been collected within 17 minutes.

Anyone managed to shift a car faster as a result of actively putting up an advert online?

(Selling off the cuff to a mate/family not included, obviously)

45 minutes from advert to sale, had a MK2 cavalier last year - buyer was part of the official club wanting to build his collection.

about 30 secs from placing the ad to a call. He couldn't drive down as had been drinking and he picked it up the next day paying cash for an Atom 300!

Listed my GSX-R750 on Pistonheads on Saturday evening. Chap arrived from Holland the next morning with cash. Not too shabby.

O/T kinda.

Not a car, but I sold a house in 2 minutes. Sitting in local pub, conversation with Mrs Get, decided to sell, bought a drink, mentioned it to the landlord and a bloke at the far end of the bar said "I'll buy it". He paid the asking price the following week.

Are these examples potentially under priced if they are snapped up so quick? Unless I had "Barry the Brick" coming to collect my debts in the next 2 hours I think I'd rather wait a little longer to try and get a bit more money for the vehicle.

2 years ago I sold my Alfa 159 estate ti 2.4 diesel the same day I put the advert on, first call receveid, I don't recall exactly how much time passed but not more than a couple of hours, it all happened in a afternoon, in a workday. The car was not priced low for Italian market but the car had just did 60k km service with 2 years official warranty still to go and body/rims/interior in mint conditions.

Can't really beat any records, but my second 924 went in about 8 hours, chap had paid for the insurance before he even came to view. Really nice bloke actually! I've sold other cars in under a day before, and I tend not to use paid sites. Had good results with carandclassic/gumtree and marque forums more so than eBay.

Fastest sold is a couple of days. Fastest bought is one day, by viewing ads daily then travelling with cash I already had to hand.

About minus 5 minutes. Had the car all polished looking fabulous, was taking pictures, one of my neighbours asked if I was selling, said he had always liked the car, give him the price, he got the cash. Never even made it to a website. Although it took him about 3 weeks to move if from my parking space.

Last week put my trusty 80 series Landcruiser on an ebay classified ad at 10pm, got a message at 10.15 & a sale was agreed over the phone, money in my account next morning collected pm.

Not bad considering I sold it for 3k MORE than I paid for it 4 years ago!!!

My 944 was certainly undersold, I just didn't know it when placing the advert. I did know when I got 300 phone calls on the first night the advert was live and three buyers turned up at the same time the next day and one other guy FLEW from the other side of the country to view it.
was he from wales by any chance hehe

Mentioned on the Caterham forum I was thinking of selling and low and behold gone within the time it took to ask for spec and return mail. Couldn't believe it, next day I received another mail offering me an extra grand if I sold it to him instead. Unfortunately for the second buyer my principals were worth more than the extra cash.

Not quite some of the records some have said, but my MX5 was advertised whilst cooking dinner (multi-tasking at its best!), had a phone call whilst eating pudding, 2 hours later the car left my drive for £50 less than the asking price.

Car has now had thousands spent on it, and competes in concourse
