Hi, Been Lurking in the shadows for a long time an thought it about time that I made a post .
Recently given up a company car and taken the option of a cash allowance, Never had to buy a car apart from my first a Nissan Micra !

Anyway looking at an Audi A6 Avant with the 2.0tdi engine, done my research and spent the weekend going around a couple of local Audi Dealers. Got what I thought to be a good deal. Been doing some research on line and found drivethedeal.com . They are advertising an offer on the Black edition at £32445 a saving of around £10,000. Not to be sniffed at I’ve done a bit of google work and found no negative reviews, but wanted to throw it out to the Pistonhead masses to see if anyone had dealt with them.
The only posts with reference to this company were last year, a lot can change in the year. So has anyone dealt with them recently ?

Thanks in advance
Neil

I hate it when people post posts like the one I'm about to.

But is it REALLY £42445 for a 2.0 diesel A6?

IIRC all drivethedeal does it put you in touch with a dealer who is willing to sell at the advertised discounted price, non?

Therefore I presume, as a customer, there is no risk as the £££ will be handed over directly to said dealer.
Yes, after you agree on the price with DTD the dealer in question will call you. Any further communication is then between you and the dealer.

Any finance will be through Audi too so it's all legit and above board.

Yep - they're effectively just brokers, no cash moves through them etc, well rated by a few in the press, including the Telegraph's regular hack "Honest John".

Brand new one here for £30,450
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

Or 1 year old at £23.5k
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...

I think a 1 year old car at £8k cheaper offers far better value

Also a nearly new black edition here 2k miles for £27.5k

1 year old is a manual and isn't a Black Edition therefore isn't comparable.

It is an option worth considering I feel and where did he mention automatic?

I have added a black edition for £27.5k all it seems to add is stupidly big wheels that would ruin the ride and a black grill along with a piano black interior which I don't like and to me that is not worth £4k more you could buy bigger wheels for £1k and black grill for say £500 and it would still be £2.5k less for the same car.

Edit - My cousin has a black edition A4 tdi which replaced a S Line and with the bigger wheels the ride was noticeably worse as a passenger. I would certainly try one on smaller wheels before you plump for the drug dealer spec 20's that seem to be all the fashion nowadays...

The black edition I posted was an automatic and was on at £27,750 with 2k miles and the black edition I posted for £30,450 was an automatic as well...

I would still prefer a normal S Line myself like this though (automatic)as to me the interior on the black edition looks a bit dingy and the ride will most certainly be worse. I would recommend the OP trying both before committing for sure.

Sorry Didn't Mention the gearbox but it was to correct to assume that I do want the auto box . Black edition also has the Bose Hifi , a small option but a nice one . I like the look of the 20" Wheels but need to have an extended drive to make sure I can live with them .

the other reason Im looking at new is the low rate PCP option on the Audi , you wont get this on a used one Im told .

I've recently ordered a car through them & as said all they do is put you in touch with a dealer who is willing to give you the discounted price.
I've got a 150 mile trip to collect my
new car when it arrives (in march) but for nearly 8k discount I'm more than happy with that!!!

20' wheels ? Seriously ? Has the engine got enough power to make them turn at all ?

Okay that is far enough now we have more information, with regards to BOSE my experience is they tend to be all bass and not much else so I would not get worked up too much over than option.

I would ring up about the 1st car I posted as it is brand new and appears to be another £2k cheaper
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

With regards to the wheels yes I would give it a try for me an car such as an A6 should be about a nice wafty ride and I am not sure if the large wheels will provide this...

Also if you are buying it on finance and it may be worth looking at lease deals as this could work out cheaper if you only plan to keep the car for say 3 years smile
